The project

A new chapter for a historic site.

Originally opened in 1905, the site operated as a tuberculosis sanatorium on the outer edge of Delamere Forest. The abandoned and dilapidated site was transformed through the complete renovation of its Grade II listed buildings, alongside new homes and an extensive external works programme.

The main hospital building was converted into 40 luxury apartments, with a further 30 conversions within other buildings. Fourteen large new-build homes were added within the grounds, creating a gated community comprising 84 properties in total.

Scope of the renovation

The works encompassed the main hospital building, nurses’ accommodation, church and chapel, attendants’ cottages, boiler house, mortuary, library and ancillary buildings, together with extensive external works.

Project involvement

Services on this project comprised project management, engineering and quality oversight across the renovation and development works.
