The project

A community connecting generations.

Belong Chester is a purpose-built, 97-unit care home and extra care village with public facilities. Its canal-side setting brings residential and nursing support together with independent living and amenities for the wider community.

Village structure

Built around a central public hub, the village combines 24-hour care households, independent living apartments and community outreach services.

Intergenerational nursery

The Nursery in Belong is a 25-place day nursery for children from birth to five years, designed to encourage shared learning and interaction with older residents. The intergenerational model received the LaingBuisson award for Innovation in Care.

Care households

The village comprises 74 suites arranged across six smaller, family-sized households, with en-suite wet rooms, three-quarter beds and round-the-clock nursing and dementia support.

Independent living

Twenty-three modern one- and two-bedroom apartments provide options to rent, buy or part-own and part-rent, supported by a 24-hour emergency response.

Public-facing amenities

Facilities include a bistro, hair salon, specialist exercise studio and gym, The Venue with function rooms, The Creative Studio and landscaped gardens for residents, families and the wider community.

Project involvement

Clerk of Works inspection services were provided for the project.
